Harper’s growing sense of humor

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

Harper’s personality, especially her sense of humor, is really starting to emerge and we are loving every minute of it!

Here are some things that crack her up:
Raspberries (see video below)
When Mama pretends to gobble her hand, neck, or cheek
When Mama makes strange, soundless monkey noises (imagine something akin to yoga breathing/ lamazz- in the jungle)
When Mama plays the ever popular Gonzo game: Near…. Far….
Pretending to fall backwards
Cadiz

We’ll keep you posted as this quirky girl’s weird sense of humor continues to develop!

Harper’s first wedding!

Monday, August 24th, 2009

This weekend we took Harper to her first wedding. My long-lost college friend, Roy, tied the knot in Piedmont. Poor Harper had her first encounter with loud cheering and clapping, and while everyone else was gleefully celebrating the nuptials, Harper began a domino-effect scream fest amongst all the babies. At least she made her ultra cute pout-face just before she erupted, endearing her to all those in her immediate vicinity. But, thanks to the very shiny silver purse of a friend, she soon calmed down and enjoyed the rest of the evening!

Harper’s first day of daycare!

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

After a relatively uneventful drop off (another kid bonked her head while I was there), Harper seems to be taking to daycare like a fish to water. I called after lunch to check in and Ludette (her nanny) said that she was a complete dream and had already gone down without a fuss for a nap, alerted Ludette that she needed a diaper change, and was just mellowly observing the other kids at play.

I am reminded of the Michael Jackson lyric from PYT, “where did you come from babe, and ooh won’t you take me there.”
